Why are Ranch style homes having a moment?

Oh, how my buyers LOVE a rancher!!  And it is easy to see why!  One floor living, large living rooms and nice sized basements are generally the win for buyers!  Ranchers tend to be no fuss with the layout and seemingly easy to clean and care for.  I am finding that I have two huge demographics looking for ranchers on a regular basis to call home.

First, we have our first-time home buyers; the price point that usually comes with Ranchers is perfect for their budget.  Along with the home size, layout and the opportunity to refinish the basement and grow into the home it makes a great starter home!

Secondly, we have one of our largest generations in the buying pool; clients that are 60 and older.  As buyers look for ways to remain independent longer, while easing their workload and home maintenance and reducing the need for stairs, accordingly, ranchers are a very attractive option.  Often times clients in this age group are looking for a primary bedroom, guest room and office space, In addition to no stairs and open layout.  Ranchers tend to fit the bill!  The price point often times allows clients in the price point to downsize from a larger home and therefore pay with cash. This puts a little money in their pocket for more fun things like traveling and grandchildren.
